Boris Alexander is a barrister and solicitor, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, practicing employment law.
Prior to joining Monkhouse Law, Boris articled at a top tax litigation law firm in Toronto. There, he dealt with matters related to collections, audits, and various appeals and trial mandates for all stages of the CRA appeals process, Superior Court of Justice, and the Tax Court of Canada. Subsequently, Boris worked at one of Canada’s largest labour and employment firms representing employees and employers.
Boris has represented employees before various courts and provincial and federal administrative tribunals, including the Small Claims Court, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Superior Court of Justice.
Boris prides himself on providing effective and straightforward representation to the firm’s clients. He always seeks an efficient and tactical approach to solving complex issues.
Boris completed his law degree at Queen’s University Faculty of Law. In addition, Boris obtained a Certificate in International Business Law from the renowned Bader International Study Centre located in the UK. Prior to law school, Boris obtained his H.B.A. in Criminology from York University and graduated with distinction.
In his spare time, Boris studies languages (presently, Japanese, Korean and Tamil), teaches English to Chinese and Korean students located in China and Korea, loves traveling, and explores trails with his dog, Autumn.

Recent Notable Employment Law Cases:

Janmohamed v. Dr. M. Zia Medicine Professional Corporation: Boris represented a terminated employee in a wrongful dismissal matter. Boris was successful in obtaining 150% of the amount the employer initially paid his client upon termination. The Court then awarded $30,000.00 to assist Boris’ client with the costs of her legal fees and recognized the exceptional circumstances.
Janmohamed v. Dr. M. Zia Medicine Professional Corporation: Boris was successful in preventing the employer from delaying the proceedings and incurring greater costs by forcing the employee to engage in discoveries twice. The Court denied this attempt by the employer and awarded 100% of costs incurred, which went towards the employee’s legal fees.
