Marissa is a lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. She practices exclusively in the area of Employment and Labour Law. Marissa primarily assists employees who have been terminated by their employer.
Prior to practicing at Monkhouse Law, Marissa received her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending law school, Marissa received an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto with a double major in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies and Sociology.
While studying at Osgoode, Marissa was an executive for the Osgoode Women’s Network (OWN) and competed in various moots and oral advocacy competitions. She has also worked on various human rights initiatives, including the drafting of a legal education guide for migrants in Canada, working in housing rights advocacy and policy, and supporting a constitutional legal challenge.
In her spare time, Marissa enjoys staying active and travelling.
Key cases:
TW v. Ryder, 2025 FC 1032: Marissa was co-counsel on a Judicial Review, reversing the decision of the Canadian Human Rights Commission dismissing an employee’s claim. Justice Diner found that the decision of the commission was unreasonable and procedurally unfair.
